In the anime, Akito is a male. In the manga, however, Akito is really a female who was raised to be a male

In the anime, you get the impression that Akito is a guy. But even in the manga, up until volume 8/9 you think Akito is a guy.
Only a few Sohma%26#039;s know that she is a girl.
Notice how Kyo will refer to Akito as he, where you will catch Shigure refering to Akito as she.
So even in the anime, I think Akito is still a girl.
Reply:In the anime, Akito is a guy. but in the manga it is revealed that Akito is indeed a female ^^; I cant remember but its when Tohru meets ...(ugh curse my bad memory) the guy that uotani-san likes.

Reply:Akito is a guy. At some points he seems a bit %26quot;awkward%26quot;, like they%26#039;ve put a yaoi (gay) influence on the character in the way that he acts, but he is definitely male.
