Can you explain how bananas in Christmas fruit baskets stay green for a couple of weeks?

Bananas in supermarkets get ripe in less than a week.

Can you explain how bananas in Christmas fruit baskets stay green for a couple of weeks?
Bananas can be ordered green or yellow. The green bananas don%26#039;t ripen as quickly so when bananas aren%26#039;t on sale there won%26#039;t be as many bananas get ripe too quickly.

If bananas are on sale at a hot price, then the yellow are better to sell. Stores also have banana blankets to put over the cases to help ripen them. So green bananas are selected for the fruit baskets because the retailer knows that one bad banana ruins the basket%26#039;s appearance.
Reply:I assume that they are picked longer before ripening.
Reply:bananas are green for a while before picking.i guess the ones in the stores are closer to being ripe.if they are put in a fruit basket they will ripen quickly when placed next to other fruit,so i guess the greener they are the longer you will have to keep them
