I received a fruit basket and I%26#039;d like to know how long it will take before it goes bad? I don%26#039;t want to eat all the fruit. Should I wrap it up? What can I do to make it last longer
Fruit basket question?
Put the fruit in the refrigerator, if you have a drawer put them in there. Leave the bananas on the counter and if they are ripe eat them first as they won%26#039;t last long. The rest of them should last a few weeks if in the fruit drawer.
Reply:It depends on the fruit. Bananas will last a few days,so should be eaten quickly. Other fruit like pears, apples, oranges and grapes will last longer. Put them in the refrigerator where they will last for 1 - 2 weeks.
Reply:It depends what type of fruit and how ripe it already is. Generally, dont wrap it in plastic as it will sweat and go off quicker. Separate any bananas from the other fruit or they will ripen too quickly. If things look really ripe and you want to make them last longer, put them in the fridge. But best eaten at room temp!

Even a wire mesh office garbage can would work.
You could check out the housewares and office supply areas of your local department stores to get some ideas.

Does anyone know the name of that company that delivers not exactly fruit baskets, but fruit made designed in a beautiful tower pattern. I always see the truck driving around with the name on it, but I can%26#039;t remember the name right now for some reason. I want to send one to one of my friends. I have a couple of Longaberger baskets that have stains on the bottom from rotting fruit such as peaches or tomatoes. Is there a way to remove those stains?

a mild bleach solution along with some liquid dish soap should do the trick, also, leave the basket out in the sun for a while, it will bleach the stain

How do you make/create a fruit/gift baskets?
You should pick products that fit the occasion, color scheme, age, religion, sex, dietary restrictions, etc. of the recipient of the gift. You would then need to fill the bottom of your container with newsprint (newspaper without the print) almost to the rim of the container. At this time it would be a good idea to add a piece of floral foam to one side of the container to anchor the enhancements you%26#039;ll be using. Then you need to add shred to cover the newsprint. Shred comes in many different colors and styles, so be sure to look around before making your selection.
Your next step would be to add the products. I like to add the biggest or tallest products in the middle of the container and work my way forward. I have found the easiest method for me is to use skewers and strong packing tape to anchor the products. When you get to the back of the container, face your products outward so the back of the basket looks nice also.
When you are done adding products, you would then use silk flowers, tulle, decorative tissue paper, balloons, etc. to enhance your baskets and fill in any bare spots you may have. After you have finished enhancing the gift, you need to decide if you will shrink wrap or cellophane the gift basket. I choose to cellophane most of my designs, I just think it looks nicer. But, if you decide to leave a basket at a business for people to see, I would recommend shrink wrapping to prevent people from sampling and pulling apart the basket.
When you start to cellophane the basket, it might take a few times before you can get comfortable enough with the process of making the cellophane tight enough to look nice. I use curling ribbon the hold the cellophane in place and fan out the top.
You should include a handmade bow, in my opinion it just looks a lot better than a pull-bow. There are many ways to make handmade bows. I use the bowdabra. It%26#039;s very easy to use and comes with complete instructions. Ribbon comes in many different widths and colors. Remember to stay with the color scheme so everything flows together.
Ideally, you should leave three forms of advertising on the basket. These should include a gold-foiled sticker at the top of the cellophane fan, the enclosure card and your business card

Reply:We make baskets every year. Start at a thrift store to buy inexpensive baskets--there are many types to choose from. If you want to add more pizzazz to the baskets, spray paint them or hand paint designs right on the basket.
From there, we purchase what we want to place in them--fruit, candy, toys, books, coffee, soup mixes, tea, etc. Add some curled ribbons or other filling for color. Place the entire basket in shrink wrap gift bags (also available at discount stores), turn on the blow dryer to shrink the wrap. Tie more ribbons or attach bows to outside of bag.
The creativity in making these baskets is limitless. And you can personalize them very easily by filling them with specific items that the receiver will enjoy.

decorate it....maybe line it with some (fake) flowers, or twist a (fake) vine of flowers along the handle (you can skip this also)
think of stuff you can put in it: tea bags, instant coffee, food...etc. neatly put them inside, to that the biggest things go in the back..if they are all basically the same size, stack the things on the bottom and put the most delicate things on the top...

You would then need to fill the bottom of your container with newsprint (newspaper without the print) almost to the rim of the container. At this time it would be a good idea to add a piece of floral foam to one side of the container to anchor the enhancements you%26#039;ll be using. Then you need to add shred to cover the newsprint. Shred comes in many different colors and styles, so be sure to look around before making your selection.
Your next step would be to add the products. I like to add the biggest or tallest products in the middle of the container and work my way forward. I have found the easiest method for me is to use skewers and strong packing tape to anchor the products. When you get to the back of the container, face your products outward so the back of the basket looks nice also.
When you are done adding products, you would then use silk flowers, tulle, decorative tissue paper, balloons, etc. to enhance your baskets and fill in any bare spots you may have. After you have finished enhancing the gift, you need to decide if you will shrink wrap or cellophane the gift basket. I choose to cellophane most of my designs, I just think it looks nicer. But, if you decide to leave a basket at a business for people to see, I would recommend shrink wrapping to prevent people from sampling and pulling apart the basket.
When you start to cellophane the basket, it might take a few times before you can get comfortable enough with the process of making the cellophane tight enough to look nice. I use curling ribbon the hold the cellophane in place and fan out the top.
You should include a handmade bow, in my opinion it just looks a lot better than a pull-bow. There are many ways to make handmade bows. I use the bowdabra. It%26#039;s very easy to use and comes with complete instructions. Ribbon comes in many different widths and colors. Remember to stay with the color scheme so everything flows together.
Ideally, you should leave three forms of advertising on the basket. These should include a gold-foiled sticker at the top of the cellophane fan, the enclosure card and your business card

Then you crumple up wrapping paper into large balls and put them into the bottom to fill the space. Something pretty that blends in and isn%26#039;t all that conspicuous.
Then you put your fruit and some small french cookies, some small boxes of designer coffee, candy or Godiva chocolates?
Make sure you arrange it pretty and cover up all the spaces in between so that it looks like it is full.
Get some corn husk grass or string grass from the craft store. (It looks like a big kids Easter basket grass but it is natural fibers and not vibrant green or plastic.)

they sell shrink wrap that you put over the entire basket and then hit with a hairdryer that shrinks it tight to the basket and makes a nice seal. add a big fat pretty bow and

Reply:We make baskets every year. Start at a thrift store to buy inexpensive baskets--there are many types to choose from. If you want to add more pizzazz to the baskets, spray paint them or hand paint designs right on the basket.
From there, we purchase what we want to place in them--fruit, candy, toys, books, coffee, soup mixes, tea, etc. Add some curled ribbons or other filling for color. Place the entire basket in shrink wrap gift bags (also available at discount stores), turn on the blow dryer to shrink the wrap. Tie more ribbons or attach bows to outside of bag.
The creativity in making these baskets is limitless. And you can personalize them very easily by filling them with specific items that the receiver will enjoy.

then, take some cloth or strips of cellophane or something like that to line the basket....you can skip this if you dont want to.
be creative with what you are gonna do next....
decorate it....maybe line it with some (fake) flowers, or twist a (fake) vine of flowers along the handle (you can skip this also)
think of stuff you can put in it: tea bags, instant coffee, food...etc. neatly put them inside, to that the biggest things go in the back..if they are all basically the same size, stack the things on the bottom and put the most delicate things on the top...

the series just felt to unfinished because i was all waiting for this and that to happen but before i knew it the series was finished..

Just a curious question. I understand flowers, but why fruit? Where did this custom start? When my dad died, it was like owning a produce stand. I understand the nice gesture....but I have no idea how this custom came about?

Gay friends, fruit baskets and crotch water?
Max S and I have this gay friend who everyone can tell is gay, but he can%26#039;t bring himself to admit it. He likes this guy who is straight but our friend can%26#039;t get it into his little (which is actually really big) head that his crush isn%26#039;t gay. Our friend also has a little bit of a problem with his bodily stench, which turns off all of the people around him. Now anyway, how should we break it to our friend that he should stop liking this guy and denying the fact that his crush doesn%26#039;t have the same sexual preference as him, and that our friend needs to be comfortable with who he is?
By the way, the fruit baskets and crotch water are irrelevant to this question, they are just inside jokes between our friend and us.

Most of my friends that I%26#039;ve known that are gay have a hard time coming to grips with that reality, but always do in their own time. HelI my brother in law%26#039;s father was married (to a woman) and had two kids before he came out. It rather sucked for his family and wife, but the point is, if he really is gay, let him have it in his own time.
I%26#039;d try to help your friend address the hygene issue before anything else. Perhaps sit down with him one on one so he does not feel %26#039;ganged up on%26#039; and tell him that you want to help him as a friend and that includes being truthful even when it hurts. Suggest showering daily (a lot of guys NEED it) and perhaps even suggesting an antibacterial bodywash (Dial rocks!) as well as ask about deodorant and suggest trying a few different brands if the one he%26#039;s using is keeping him dry, but not taking away the smell. (I have only a couple brands myself that actually keep me dry and deodorized at the same time) I love that my fiance uses Axe-it%26#039;s deodorant AND body spray....AND it smells sexy!! :) Try not to push the issue or embarrass him too much (cuz frankly, he will probably be when it%26#039;s brought up) and remind him that you enjoy his friendship regardless of his smell and you%26#039;re just trying to help him not change him...well anything more than a few habits anyway. lol

It is like my favorite thing in the world! The manga is so much better though but the anime is still good! The anime had more humor while the manga went into more depth and detail. The anime stops on volume 8 of the manga. so far there are 13 volumes in the US. book 14 comes out 8/8/06 The theme song is liek my fave too.
16 year old Tohru Honda is living in a tent beacuse her grandfather is having some remodeling done. She didnt%26#039; want to bother her two friends. She is taken in by the mysterious Sohma family with a big secret. Now she is living with the prince of her school, Yuki Sohma and his hot headed cousin Kyo Sohma. She finds out that they are cursed and accepts them and heals the whole Sohma family little by little.

Curse: The Sohma Curse is a zodiac curse. There are 13 cursed members. They are possed by the spirits of the chinese zodiac. They have no special powers... but they can contact with their animal. When they are hugged by the opposite sex or under a lot of stress they transform.

Reply:The show is great and filled w/ drama, lots of comedy, romance, and all that good stuff but, if you plan on getting into this show I recommend that you read the manga. The show has 26 episodes that only go up to volume 6 in the manga. The anime leaves alot of questions unanswered and there are no plans to release more episodes in Japan. The manga however is up to around 20 volumes (13 released in America) and is still going strong. All together though Fruits Basket rocks and I defiantly recommend it ~.^

Reply:The show is great and filled w/ drama, lots of comedy, romance, and all that good stuff but, if you plan on getting into this show I recommend that you read the manga. The show has 26 episodes that only go up to volume 6 in the manga. The anime leaves alot of questions unanswered and there are no plans to release more episodes in Japan. The manga however is up to around 20 volumes (13 released in America) and is still going strong. All together though Fruits Basket rocks and I defiantly recommend it ~.^

my mom and i are going to sell these fruittype baskets. have u ever seen the fruit baskets, but the fruits are in the sape of floers and things? u know the cookie cutters? in shapes of flowers, butterflies, animals? well, we%26#039;re using them on the fruit and decorating it in the basket.

altgough my mom%26#039;s and mine have more variety and detail. we give them 2 ppl 4 b-day presents and x-mas. they loved them, so we decided 2 started selling them. we had our first customer and paid us 35$ much cheaper than what u%26#039;ll see in the website.
